The Brigus Blueberry Festival is an Award Winning 4 day event held in mid August. Activities include: raffles, craft stalls, baked goods, a pie eating contest, games of chance, mooseburgers, cash bar, children's games, dances, and fireworks at the Brigus Waterfront.
A Must-Do Attraction, the entire town of Brigus invites you to three days of festivities, crafts, concessions, contests and of course Blueberries! This festival is a Favorite in the region, attracting thousands of people the second weekend of August.
In 2001, the Brigus Blueberry Festival was selected as the winning Cultural Event for Newfoundland and Labrador in the Attractions Canada awards program. In 2004, the Brigus Blueberry Festival was voted the #1 attraction on the Baccalieu Trail by the Board of Directors of V.I.P. Marketing Inc. In February 2005, the Brigus Blueberry Festival was selected by Travelocity.ca from more than 30,000 entries as a top insider spot in Canada for 2005.
The Brigus Blueberry Festival invites one and all to three days of festivities, crafts, concessions, contests, Missed Blueberry Pageant and of course, blueberries.
Brigus is well known for its unique and picturesque architecture, and delightful ambience.
This festival is a favourite in the region, and you can be sure to find plenty of unique blueberry dishes, and crafts inspired by the sweet, wild berry. Held the weekend of the second Saturday of August
Traffic & Parking
Traffic
In an attempt to alleviate traffic congestion, we would like to ask visitors and residents to enter the festival area via Irish Town Road and exit via Station Road. All traffic during the weekend will be one way. Thank you for your cooperation.
Parking
Blue Zone parking and performers' parking will be on Irishtown Road & South St., East of Chapel Lane. Most venues wheelchair accessible.
**Free Shuttle Bus service from designated parking areas to and from the festival site.**
Regulations about Alcoholic Beverages
Under the Newfoundland & Labrador Liquor Control Act, it is an offence to drink alcoholic beverage in public and this will not be tolerated at the festival.
Washroom Facilities
Washroom facilities at the Recreation Center. Portable washrooms at various other locations.
Regulations about Pets and Bicycles
No pets or bicycles on the Festival Grounds during the Blueberry Festival Weekend.
